Transportation Planning Coordinator

Compensation: $59,794-$72,000 (DOE)

General Description/Information

Under general supervision of the Transportation Mobility Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for transportation planning and mobility management elements of PAG’s Overall Work Program (OWP) including but not limited to, coordinating the collection, analysis and presentation of data and in the development and implementation of various agency activities for PAG/RTA. Work requires considerable personal initiative, sound independent judgment and ability to develop consensus among diverse stakeholders in resolving regional transportation planning and programming issues.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Collaborates with service providers to coordinate with local organizations and jurisdictions in order to identify transportation options and strategies that improve access to mobility options.
  • Develops and manages annual overall work plan and budget for Mobility Management elements of the Overall Work Program.
  • Identifies and monitors mobility issues of local, regional, and statewide interests.
  • Develops strategies for seeking other funding sources and leveraging existing funds with other non-FTA federal programs to implement those strategies.
  • Seeks to secure funding and manage resources and activities necessary to meet agency responsibilities for implementation and compliance with FTA grant programs (5305, 5311, 5339, 5307), including oversight of the required National Transit Data (NTD) reporting.
  • Assists with the development of multimodal plans and new infrastructure that advance the use of alternative transportation and accessible transportation options throughout the region.
  • Coordinates other planning tasks as needed to implement the varied transportation OWP elements for continuing and improving a comprehensive, multimodal transportation planning program.
  • Gathers and analyzes data to evaluate transportation services and develops strategies to make data-driven decisions that will improve regional transit service and ridership.
  • Gathers all monthly or quarterly reports from sub-recipients. Reviews and approves monthly vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance.
  • Supports state, regional, and local coordination planning and policy committees as assigned.
  • Provides support and assistance for projects as assigned, such as, but not limited to: the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP); the Regional Mobility and Accessibility Plan (RMAP), the region’s long-range transportation plan;  freight, rail planning and economic development transportation issues, Title VI issues and regional compliance, fiscal constraint and development of financial estimates.
  • Promotes the enhancement and facilitation of access to transportation services, including the integration and oversight of transportation coordinated services.
  • Maintains the regional program recipients’ inventory of vehicles used for passenger transportation. Processes asset disposal in compliance with FTA standards.
  • Develops and performs research and/or specialized analyses to prepare technical reports and briefings.
  • Provides technical assistance to various PAG committees, subcommittees and task forces as assigned, including other agencies conducting transportation planning and programming.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

At a minimum a graduate degree with three years of related experience or an undergraduate degree with five years of related experience or equivalent knowledge skills and abilities in a related urban planning, business administration field of study
