Transit Operator/Driver

Start Date: ASAP  Compensation: $17.58 - $25.42

General Description/Information

The City of Peoria’s Public Works department has an excellent opportunity for a driver, with a commercial driver’s license, in the transit division. The purpose of this position is to provide transportation services to residents.

The ideal candidate for this position will be:

• A safety minded person, who provides safe and efficient vehicle operations for transporting passengers.
• A people person, who assists passengers, including seniors and disabled, in boarding and exiting the vehicle as well as securing mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) in the vehicle.
• Able to provide general information to public regarding Dial-A-Ride services.
• An excellent communicator with attention to detail.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: High school graduation or equivalency
• Experience: 1-2 years experience of related experience
• Physical Demands: Work requires moderate physical exertion.  Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 10 and 25 pounds.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid Arizona Class "C" Driver's License (with Passenger Endorsement) upon hire
